I'm sad the geth froggy hoppers that jump on the walls never made it into Mass Effect two or three. Or enemies like them. I thought they were an interesting challenge to have, not taking cover and all.

CONFESSION:

One of the headcanons I have for why we never see the Geth Hoppers again is that they're the "mutated" Geth, like the Husks and other Reaper-mutated forces. They're the only Geth actually shoot lasers from their eyes, which look like Reaper lasers. Plus, there was the thing with Sovereign controlling Saren's body, essentially turning him into a Geth Hopper combat-wise. And, even though the Geth use Reaper code in ME3, the code is not enough to change their physical attributes to be a Hopper.

legitimately can’t think of one. i pretty universally view my faves as switches.

not going to name and shame because a) it’s been a while and b) i actually had a very nice conversation with the person who initially posted this, but there was a headcanon post that listed joker as asexual (in a positive light) because having vrolik’s syndrome made sex too risky. the casual ableism of that really bothered me. joker is interested in sex in the game and it bothers him that his disability makes it hard to engage in physical intimacy. there’s a pervasive idea that people with certain kinds of physical disabilities can’t or just wouldn’t want to have sex (“how would that even work?? lol”), and while there are obviously disabled people who are asexual, or who abstain from sex in part or in full because the logistics are difficult or painful, it’s frustrating to see that as a default mindset in a lot of able-bodied people.

11. Golden Age, by Zayde Wolf.

If there was a single song that defines Cantata, it's this one. I paired it specifically with the chapter "What We've Been Given," because that's where I wanted to really hit on the idea that the time this squad spent on the 'Yang was Gondolin before the fall: a golden age they all long for but can never go back to. I wanted this chapter to be uplifting, exhilarating, with the thrill and the freefall of falling in love. The best part of Cantata was the fact that it took place before Eden Prime, before Saren and the geth and the reapers. The galaxy was not at stake. They had room to be themselves without the weight of everything resting on their shoulders. That gave me so much narrative freedom - there was no constant dread looming in the background.

So here's a snippet from that chapter.

Half the crew waits at the ‘Yang’s airlock to greet the N team when they return, Kaidan among them, swallowing back his relief like it’s a living, breathing thing. He gets lost in the shuffle when the airlock opens and the yelling starts, but Shepard’s gaze cuts through the crowd, and he parts it like Moses and the Red Sea. With a grin on his face that could shake the stars, he throws an armored arm around Kaidan and hugs him tight, thunking an energetic palm against his shoulder. Kaidan returns it just as fierce, the plating stiff and sterile against him.

“Did you see that?” Shepard exclaims when they part, elation on his face, hand still on Kaidan’s shoulder, biotic field humming with kinetic energy. This is Shepard in his element, Shepard at his best. The impossible means nothing to him.

Kaidan grins back. “Yeah, I saw it.”

Another salarian named Teuffel is in command now, with Kirrahe using Mannovai team to try and breach another area of the base in hopes of drawing away some of the enemy fire. Either it hasn’t worked, or Saren has a lot of goddamned geth.

Ashley grimaces, checking the field patch over her thigh plate. The seal has already cracked – what did she expect for something she’d devoted an entire five seconds to – and a sharp lance of pain runs from her hip to her ankle. Alenko’s not here, and none of the salarians have the slightest idea how to treat a human, so if her medical exoskeleton can’t fix it, she’s just shit out of luck.

Things are spiraling out of control. Fast. Even if Shepard holds up his end, it might be too late.

Really?? I do have it but haven’t had the energy to play a trilogy until recently! So if that’s the case, perhaps my mind will change bc me1 combat (the geth hopper from that planet you find Liara on traumatized me….) was a nightmare
